Certifications
No one in real estate is required to do this. These operators chose it anyway.
Four certifications, in sequence. Scenario-based assessments on every one.
Attested versus verified
Self-reported is not the same as verified
Many military-focused directories rely on self-reported experience. An agent adds their own name to a list, and nothing is checked. No training is required, and no one confirms what that agent actually knows. The label looks like proof, but it carries none. A family is left to guess at the one thing that matters most: how much this person actually understands about military life.
We built the opposite. Every certification here is completed and scored inside our system before it counts for anything. The badge on an operator's profile is not something they told us. It is something we confirmed.
The pathway
Four certifications, in order
This is not a menu. Each certification depends on the one before it, because you cannot advise a military family on lending or a move before you understand who they are.
What each one covers
What every Mission Ready operator learns
Military Service Literacy
Branches, rank, service culture, the military lifecycle, separation and transition, and the SCRA protections that shape how a military client makes decisions.
VA Loan Fundamentals
Eligibility, entitlement, COE mechanics, funding fee math, and the appraisal standards that shape every VA transaction.
PCS Relocation
Orders timelines, remote transactions, compressed closings, and the outbound listing pressure that breaks unprepared agents.
Advanced Referral Network
Communication standards, referral follow-through, and the behavioral expectations every operator is held to on the verified network.
How the training is built
We do not teach subjects. We prevent failures.
Every module in every certification answers one question: what does a military family lose if their agent does not know this? That question shapes six layers, and every module carries all six.
- ContextWhy this matters before anything is taught.
- Core conceptThe knowledge itself, stated plainly.
- Behavior translationHow it actually shows up in a real client.
- Agent implicationWhat the operator must do differently.
- Common mistakeThe named pattern agents get wrong.
- Execution shiftThe change they make starting now.
Who writes this
Written from three backgrounds, not one
The curriculum is written by Shandice Banks: a U.S. Army combat veteran who has served in Civil Affairs since 2006, a licensed real estate professional for more than ten years who now holds a designated broker license, and a Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University, where she spent six years helping military-connected students finish their degrees.
Each background does a different job. Military service is how the training reads the client correctly. Real estate experience is what keeps it survivable inside a live transaction. And the counseling background, with graduate training in research methods and in assessment design, is why every module is built around behavior rather than information, and why the assessments test judgment instead of recall.
Knowing something and doing something differently are two different problems. This curriculum was built by someone trained to solve the second one.
The assessments
Scenario-based, not recall
An operator is never asked to repeat a definition. Every assessment puts them in a real situation with a real consequence and asks what they would do. Wrong answers are not simply marked wrong, they show what it would have cost the family.
At least eighty-five percent is required to pass the certification assessment, and it is a single attempt. The module assessments along the way allow three. An operator who does not meet the standard does not hold the certification, and their profile does not claim it.
Not everyone passes on the first attempt. We think that matters. A standard nobody fails is not a standard, it is a formality.
A standard you can opt out of, that people choose anyway, tells you something a required course never could.
Nothing in real estate requires this. There is no rule that says an agent must complete twenty-four modules and four scenario-based assessments before helping a military family buy a home. Most never will. The operators here raised their hand for the harder path, because they understand what is at stake for the families they serve.
What it earns
All four earns Mission Ready
Mission Ready is the standard this whole community is built on. The four certifications are how it is earned, but they are not the whole of it. Mission Ready also requires verified identity and active membership, so it reflects where an operator stands today, not only what they once finished.

Common questions
Straight answers
What certifications does a Mission Ready operator complete?
Four: Military Service Literacy (C-01), VA Loan Fundamentals (C-02), PCS Relocation (C-03), and Advanced Referral Network (C-04). Twenty-four modules of material in total, and a scored assessment on every certification.
Are these certifications self-reported?
No. Every certification is completed and scored inside our system before it counts. The badge on an operator's profile is something we confirmed, not something they told us.
How are the assessments structured?
Scenario-based. An operator is not asked to recall a definition, they are asked what they would do in a real situation with a real consequence. The certification assessment at the end of each one requires at least eighty-five percent and is a single attempt. The module assessments along the way allow three. Not everyone passes on the first attempt, which is how we know the standard means something.
How long does the pathway take?
Completing the full Mission Ready pathway means meaningful study across four certifications. Operators work at their own pace, but every assessment has to be passed before moving to the next certification, so the pathway cannot be rushed.
Can an agent skip ahead or take them out of order?
No. The pathway is sequential. Military Service Literacy is the gate, because everything after it depends on understanding the client first.
Is this a government or industry designation?
No. This is our own certification pathway and our own standard. We publish exactly what it requires so a family can judge it for themselves rather than take a label on faith.
What happens after all four are complete?
The operator earns Mission Ready, the standard this community is built on. Mission Ready also requires active membership and verified identity, so it reflects where an operator stands now, not only what they once finished.
